Just to let you know... If you are an existing user before 18th September, you may notice the model documents have changed. This is to coincide with our website relaunch: we wanted to refresh the content too. Don't worry, these are not legally required changes so you can continue to use the previous version you have saved or downloaded. (We have kept the previous date as well to make it easy to reference.)
This letter is to be used in conjunction with a maternity leave policy which provides for extending the length of maternity leave for employees who have a premature baby who is not well enough to go home as normal. The letter confirms the new maternity leave start date (if appropriate), the length of extended leave and the new return date.
The maternity leave policy includes information on time off for ante-natal care, length of leave, maternity pay, keeping in touch and returning to work. It also includes an entirely optional clause on extending maternity leave in the event that a premature birth requires the baby to spend a period of time in hospital.
This policy describes the pre-maternity interview, whose purpose is to plan the practicalities of the maternity leave, including cover, KIT days and return to work.
This policy covers arrangements to cover an employee's duties and responsibilities during her maternity leave, including handover before the maternity leave and return to work after.
This policy covers holidays accrued before and during a period of maternity leave, and when these holidays should be taken.
This policy covers varying an employee's hours on their return to work after maternity leave. It discusses the statutory rights of the employee and their contractual entitlements.
